Global Talent Acquisition Senior Manager - Ottawa, Ontario

In January 2018, Telesat successfully launched its first LEO satellite, which is currently supporting testing with existing customers and potential suppliers. THE POSITION

Reporting to the Head of Global Human Resources, the Global Talent Acquisition Senior Manager will lead the Talent Acquisition function which will be responsible for driving worldwide recruitment efforts in support of the Company’s business objectives.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Lead the talent acquisition team
  • Assist in the management of workforce plans and identification of critical skill shortages
  • Develop and implement talent acquisition strategies that will enable the Company to meet its growth objectives
  • Create, enhance, and formalize staffing and interviewing policy, process and procedure
  • Provide training to hiring managers that will result in enhanced effectiveness in acquiring best possible talent available
  • Enhance employee referral program to include development of process, procedure and consistent communication that will result in increase of referrals and decrease in third party staffing costs
  • Establish specialized recruiting pipelines to source qualified talent in response to company requirement
  • Further develop university graduate hire pipeline
  • Partner with Marketing to redesign company career page, drive social media and branding efforts
  • Develop and deliver on-boarding programs
  • Guide recruiting worldwide and lead recruiter(s) to achieve organizational goals and objectives
  • Conduct review of all Talent Acquisition suppliers and implement pre-agreed terms to manage cost/service levels
  • Enhance company’s Talent Acquisition reporting capabilities, metrics, and candidate feedback tools (recruiting and onboarding experience)

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 10 years leading a Talent Acquisition team
  • Proven track record in a corporate full-cycle recruitment role, preferably in a highly technical environment/telecommunications industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships and interact with others at all levels in the organization and externally
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work under pressure, effectively deal with shifting priorities
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proven experience pipelining prospective candidates using a variety of tools, e.g. candidate databases, social media aggregators
  • Solid judgment, decision making and business acumen
  • Unquestionable integrity and worth ethic
  • Sound knowledge of applicable legislation
  • Significant technology skills, in particular with the Microsoft Office Suite and Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Ability to be cleared under CGP (Controlled Goods Program)
