What We Need

We’re looking for a Senior Analyst, Research and Insights who will play an integral role in driving our market research, analysis of competitive data, and defining go-to-market insights and communications strategies. You’ll have a lead role in the preparation of market and competitive evaluations as requested by senior management to aid in strategy development, satellite procurement and other business initiatives. Leveraging your keen analytical abilities, you’ll glean insights and develop differentiated messaging to advance Telesat’s position in the markets it serves. And you’ll also have other interesting projects to manage too.

The Nitty-Gritty of What You’ll Do

  • Market and competitive research and evaluations – research the FSS industry and other satellite service markets and distill this information into concise and reliable market analyses for management decision making. Examples include:
    • Competitive reviews and evaluations of leading industry players, including quarterly earnings analysis of key competitors
    • Providing guidance on FSS C & Ku and BSS supply and demand trends
    • Documenting planned new satellites by region
    • Preparation of market data and business case inputs supporting new satellites and other strategic decisions
    • Maintaining Telesat relations with leading industry analyst groups such as Euroconsult, NSR, Comsys, etc.


  • External communications and messaging – leveraging market intelligence resources, provide actionable insights and differentiated communications. Examples of such communications include:
    • Developing PowerPoint Presentations for both internal and external use including maintaining the company’s core presentation
    • Developing original content for sales / BD stakeholders to shorten sales cycles and improve decision making, including but not limited to presentations for client pitches and/or proposal copy and templates
    • Be a key contributor to (and possibly lead on) position papers, contributed articles, case studies and white papers that can be leveraged by sales and lead generation activities
    • Leveraging media monitoring tools, select and distribute daily news features to various internal stakeholders


  • Managing Marketing Projects that May be Assigned from Time to Time – These include
    • Sourcing and managing external firms to conduct primary research
    • Conducting online surveys with Telesat customers and prospects
    • Developing speaking points and/or presentations for Telesat executives to deliver at key industry events
    • Supporting marketing campaigns through analysis of website traffic, CRM and marketing automation data
    • Drafting commercial press releases


We think you’re the ideal candidate if you possess the following:

  • University degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. marketing, economics, commerce/business administration)
  • 7 to 10 years experience in research and writing roles
  • Satellite experience strongly desired
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to draw meaningful conclusions from data and clearly articulate recommendations
  • Experience with networking and interacting with industry analysts
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in developing competitive analyses
  • Ability to act with a high level of autonomy and accountability and creatively navigate ambiguity
  • Strong ability to work effectively with cross-functional team members in an international environment and interface with the company’s Executive Management team
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Power Point and Excel is required

You must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP) to join our team.
