What We Need

We’re looking for a Manager, LEO System Verification and Validation to join the existing engineering team responsible for end-to-end system design and development of a new LEO constellation. This role offers the opportunity to have a significant impact on the development of the Telesat LEO Program. As the successful candidate, you will work closely with the Telesat LEO systems engineering team and will collaborate with outside technology vendors developing the end-to-end system. You will have a proven track record of successful performance in the verification and validation of complex communication systems, you will be self-directed and highly creative and you will have demonstrated the ability to excel in a fast-paced start-up like environment.

The Nitty-Gritty of What You’ll Do

  • Manage all activities related to the planning of the overall system level verification and validation strategy to be used on the Telesat LEO constellation program to ensure a high level of performance and quality of service
  • Work in close collaboration with Telesat internal engineering teams (systems, ground and space segments) to ensure uniformity of the verification and validation strategy across all segments, for both hardware and software systems
  • Establish verification and validation requirements in collaboration with the prime contractor responsible for the end-to-end system
  • Establish verification and validation strategies and plans leading to customer service integration to demonstrate system performance
  • Lead the review of all system level performance verification and validation for both pre-launch ground based testing and post launch in orbit system verification and validation
  • Recruit and lead a team of highly qualified verification and validation engineers
  • Contribute to the design of the Telesat LEO constellation in ensuring alignment of the verification and validation strategy with the performance objectives of the overall system
  • Develop all required documentation for the proper execution and tracking of the verification and validation strategy in collaboration with the technical experts in the engineering team
  • Document and maintain planning and status of verification and validation
  • Participate in the definition of development strategies with vendors and suppliers that optimize the efficiency of the verification and validation objectives

We think you’re the ideal candidate if you possess the following:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in large communication networks, including satellite communications
  • Recognized technical expert in verification and validation of large communication networks covering both hardware and software elements
  • Creative problem-solver with thorough attention to detail
  • Highly collaborative team-player who can quickly earn the confidence of co-workers and teammates
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams and partners / suppliers
  • Experience with business considerations and practical limitations related to system design and implementation
  • Ability to prioritize opportunities, needs and resources
  • An aptitude for and interest in complex technology

The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) in order to join our team.
