The Budget Coordinator, Space Programs and engineering, will oversee the preparation of department capital, operating and revenue budgets.  In addition, the resource will track and provide financial reports to the department management team and Telesat’s finance department

 

How you will contribute

  • Reviewing and coordinating the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting process for the Space and Network Engineering department collecting inputs from Directors and Managers
  • Reviewing overall budget with CTO and providing inputs to Corporate Finance
  • Providing performance analyses to Department management team for capital and operating budgets, comparing actual results to forecasted, budgeted and previous years’ data
  • Tracking Department Revenue project performance and projections including internal and external expenses, currency tracking, revenue recognition and backlogs
  • Perform administration of projects in the corporate tracking system
  • Raising purchase requisitions for the Department and validating integrity with respect to planned budget, account selection and planned timing
  • Analyzing data, summarizing results and presents findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to management
  • Partnering effectively with internal stakeholders to support forecasting and budget processes
  • Coordinating the administration of department travel through review of travel authorization and claims to ensure adherence to corporate policies
  • Support engineering management team in preparation of documentation, briefing notes, presentations, meetings and travel logistic, etc…

 

Education & Experience Required

  • A post-secondary diploma from community college in accounting and/or business
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with financial budgets
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual while ensuring alignment with the team
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills to collect, interpret and disperse data in a way which maximizes understanding and confidence
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skills with particular expertise in the use of Excel

  • The coordinator will be responsible for proactively preparing budget review and preparation schedules to collect and review the required budget information to meet corporate and departmental reporting and planning requirements

 

Supervision Exercised

  • This role has no direct reports, but will work and interact with multi-disciplinary engineering, finance and commercial teams

 

The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain a Reliability Status Government clearance.
