Teleports (Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal)
Every major city in the world has an existing or planned Teleport. A Teleport is a satellite communication centre capable of switching voice, image, and data transmissions to and from any location. Since our first Teleport was established in 1987, Telesat has kept Canada at the forefront of satellite communication development and today operates Teleports in five major cities: Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal. They provide a direct link to a worldwide communications network for the delivery of data, telephone and broadcast signals.
