Scope of Position
The Personal Money Coach is a financial literacy representative who is primarily responsible for providing personal budgeting and money coaching services including financial literacy education and consultation to members sourced through proactive contact leveraging various resources such as call lists, referrals from Alterna sales forces, in-branch seminars, and community involvement and activity. The primary objective is to increase our members financial literacy levels while identifying opportunities to cross-sell, up-sell, and consolidate business. The role will work within an assigned geographic territory and meet with members at a branch convenient to the member.
Key Responsibilities
- Successfully delivers seminars and presentations to members and targeted community groups and organizations.
- Proactively contacts members to book budget review meetings to identify and meet member needs.
- Provides consultation and education to members to identify opportunities for consolidation of business, streamlining of personal cash-flow and finances, and to assist in setting up a personal/household budget derived from established objectives.
- Refers members to FAS, SME, Branch, Insurance and others areas as appropriate based on member needs and follows up to ensure that all member commitments have been completed as they relate to the established budget.
- Develops and executes a comprehensive business and territory management plan to maximize opportunity at the branch and community level.
- Develops and executes contact management plan to schedule budget consultations resulting from in-branch seminars and community events
- Remains current in all aspects of financial literacy and budgeting through continuous education, seminars, literacy and trade association meetings, sales meetings and training sessions.
- Conducts personal research and uses national sales and marketing material to stay up to date on money-saving tips sufficient to "point" members in the right direction.
- Actively participates in sales meetings, coaching sessions, sales planning sessions, initiatives, and campaigns
- Builds and nurtures relationships with branch contacts and key internal resources
- Maintains data and documentation on all relevant member sales and service contacts and results.
Qualifications
Educations / Certifications / Experience
- Post secondary education combined with a minimum of 5 years experience in financial services or a related field or equivalent experience in financial literacy or budgeting/money management field.
- Completed or willing to work towards Life Coach accreditation.
Knowledge / Skills
- Outstanding sales, relationship, and business development skills
- Advanced presentation, facilitation, and communication skills
- Sound knowledge of financial services, credit products and demonstrated lending and credit judgement
- Understanding and knowledge of basic investment products- GIC's, RRSP, TFSA
- Knowledge of computer based applications and expert knowledge in the use of calculators and budgeting tools.
- Basic knowledge or awareness of adult learning concepts
- Must have transportation and the ability to travel as required within GTA and National Capital Region while maintaining a flexible work schedule based on member needs.
- Bilingualism an asset. (required for the National Capital Region)
