Text entry field:
The text-entry field (keyword) supports wildcard searching. You
must use an asterisk * as a wildcard character and it must
be used within quotation marks (e.g., "publish*" will
return publish, publishing, publisher, etc.).
It is important to note that when using the text-entry field (keyword)
you must identify the type of search by selecting from the pull-down
list of search types.
Any of the words: If you choose this type, the system will search
for job descriptions that contain any of the words you have entered.
All of the words: If you choose this type, the system will search
for job descriptions that contain all of the words you have entered.
Exact phrase: If you choose this type, the system will search for
job descriptions that contain all of the words you have entered,
in the exact order you have entered them.
Boolean Search: If you choose this type, you may enter Boolean searches
in the text entry field (keyword). To use any Boolean operators,
you must first select Boolean Search from the pull-down menu.
- To specify words that must all appear in the search results,
use and or & between the words (e.g., publishing
and editor).
- To specify words any of which may appear in the search results,
use or or | between the words (e.g., publishing
or editor).
- To specify a word that must not appear in the search results,
use and not before the word (e.g., publishing and not editor).
- You can utilize parenthesis () to separate keyword subsets
(e.g., (publishing or editor) and magazine).
- In order to get expression matching, use quotation marks. For
example, to find project manager positions, search on "project
manager". This will return incidences where project
and manager are adjacent to each other in the description field.
