Duties

·         Assist with experimental design, conduct experiments, produce data, and provide laboratory technical support for the in-situ diffusion and colloid experiments for various nuclear waste management organizations, in a laboratory environment.

·         The work may require the use of trace quantities of radioactive materials.

·         Provide analytical and technical services to EB&AB, other WL Branches and outside contracts.

·         Maintain the X-Ray Photoelectron Spectrometer, X-ray Diffraction Spectrometer, and DIONEX ion chromatography and provide analyses of these instruments for EB&AB, other AECL Branches, and outside contracts.

Qualifications

·         Graduate in chemistry or equivalent from an approved university or college together with required and relevant experience.

·         Knowledge of analytical procedures, instrument use and maintenance, and experimental parameters. Skills required are basic electronics, laboratory safety, handling of chemicals, radioactive handling of materials and design for experiments. Knowledge and experience working with radioactive materials would be an asset.

·         The ability and availability for limited travel together with a valid drivers license is required.
