Description:

Working within the Payroll department of Treasury Operations, the incumbent will be responsible for the financial aspects of the AECL pension plan activities within payroll, ensuring required contributions are properly calculated, deducted, matched by employer, remitted, reconciled and reported on a timely basis, and assist in payroll operations to ensure on-going regular processes related to year-end requirements are functioning properly throughout the year.

 

Duties:

 

·         Analysis, reconciliation and remittance of monthly contributions to the     Public Works pension fund;

·         Review and interpretation of rules and regulations governing the government superannuation plan;

·         Verification of salaries, service dates, leave without pay for pension calculation purposes;

·         Verification and certification of employee elective and non-elective pensionable records for retirement, death in service, reciprocal transfer agreement, transfer value option, annual allowance and deferred annuity;

·         Assist in the review and audit of T4’s, T4A’s, RL1 proofs on a bi-weekly basis;

·         Processing of salaries and allowances for offshore employees including preparation of reports for offshore tax authorities and completion of requirements for overseas employment tax credits;

·         Assist in the analysis and completion of Pension Adjustment information for new or departed employees.

 

Qualifications:

 

·         Post secondary education in a related discipline and a minimum of three years experience in payroll processing;

·         Working knowledge of policies, procedures and regulations applicable to year-end payroll processing;

·         Experience in defined benefit pension plan operations an advantage;

·         Preferably with working knowledge of policies and procedures applicable to offshore assignment and federal pension plan operations;

·         Completion of enrolment in CPA Payroll certification considered an asset.
