Duties:
Reactor Engineering Services is responsible for the provision of engineering and analytical services in the areas of fuel channels, feeders, reactor structures, reactivity control units (RCU), robotic systems and related components. Specific duties will include, but are not be limited to:
· Contributing as part of a team (working with the Section Head) that provides engineering design and analysis support including preparation of design documentation in the area of the mechanical design of the reactor structure, fuel channels, reactivity control units, feeders and related components.
· Providing technical support for various reactor, fuel channel, feeder & RCU equipment including selection, sizing and performance analysis; interaction and guidance of related development and verification testing; perform work towards preparation of all equipment related documentation including assessment documents, performance analysis, registration and equipment technical specifications.
· Performing specialized reactor & RCU equipment-related tasks and assist with recommendations, taking into consideration the feedback from the existing CANDU plants and client and project requirements.
· Performing work to meet the quality requirements of the Company and specific projects as required.
· Preparing technical specifications and other project documentation as required.
· Interfacing with other engineering disciplines as required.
· Providing site services and support to operating reactors.
· Contributing design activities to various refurbishment projects.
Qualifications:
· Relevant Honours Degree from a University of recognized standing, or, although being a Licensed Engineer in the Province of Ontario is not a requirement, it is acceptable in lieu of an engineering degree; plus a minimum of 2 years of practical continuing experience or a Masters degree.
· Ability to perform classical and computerized design calculations may be required. Engineering modeling using codes such as Solid Edge will be an asset.
· Familiarity with the design of a broad range of mechanical components is an asset.
· Have some knowledge of CANDU reactor, fuel channel, feeder or RCU components including their manufacture, performance and in-service inspection would be an asset.
· Demonstrated ability to interface with various groups both internal and external.
· Proficiency in the Microsoft suite software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as MathCAD.
· Ability to understand and consistently meet deadlines under pressure.
· Effective problem solver with a results-oriented approach and ability.
· Strong planning and organization skills.
· Ability to network, build relationships, and plan, with an orientation toward service, teamwork and collaboration.
· Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
