Duties:

 

The Reactor Engineering is responsible for the provision of engineering and analytical services in the areas of fuel channels, feeders, reactor structures, reactivity control units (RCU) and related components. 

A Vacancy is available in each of the following departments within Reactor Engineering and System Application Tools, Engineering and Technical Delivery:

Fuel Channel Engineering

Feeder Engineering

Reactor Structure & Reactivity

Component Integrity

Specific duties will include but not be limited to:

·         Contribute as part of a team (working with the Section Head) that provides engineering analysis in the area of the design of the reactor structure, fuel channels, reactivity control units, feeders and related components.

·         Perform work to meet the quality requirements of the Company and specific projects as required.

·         Interface with other engineering disciplines as required.

·         Provide analytical support to operating reactors.

·         Perform stress, dimensional and thermal analyses including the use of finite element codes.

·         Use inspection data from CANDU stations to perform analysis as applied to CANDU reactors, especially fuel channels.

·         Under the guidance of senior staff, use computer codes such as SLARADE, CDEPTH, and H3DMAP for the prediction of stress and dimensional changes of the fuel channel’s design-life and for the evaluation of flaws found in reactor components.

·         Work as part of a team receiving guidance from senior staff as required.

·         Demonstrate competence in the conventional aspects of at least one engineering field or discipline.

 

Qualifications:

 

·       Relevant Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from a university of recognized standing and 3 to 5 years of practical experience or an equivalent combination of post graduate degrees and practical experience. 

·       A working knowledge of the applicable ASME and CSA standards is an asset.

·       Demonstrated ability to interface with various internal groups.

·       Ability to understand and consistently meet deadlines under pressure.

·       Effective problem solver with a results-oriented approach and ability.

·       Strong planning and organization skills.

·       Demonstrated technical skills including familiarity with a wide range of technical projects is an asset.

·       Ability to network, build relationships, and plan, with an orientation toward service, teamwork and collaboration.

·       Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interface with staff, project management and customers.
