Description:

Duties:

·         Determines apparent causes of deviation in test data.

·         Prepares or contributes to technical reports, memoranda and procedures, and documents.

·         Demonstrates thorough knowledge and understanding of procedures processes, equipment and techniques, both in theory and practice

·         Develops and conducts programs of sampling and analysis.

·         Assists in the development of engineering procedures, which may include engineering procurement, design, construction, inspection, fabrication, and maintenance.

·         Analyses design requirements, experimental plans, standard processes, etc. and may propose appropriate alternatives.

·         Primary areas of work may be in maintaining and repairing equipment, performing analytical tests, operating equipment/instruments, processing materials or chemicals, QC inspection, engineering procurement, modifying designs etc., though, in some areas, contributions of original work are expected.

·         Responsibility for the operation and maintenance of electrical and electronic computer driven systems.

·         Provides training to others on specific processes and procedures

·         Provides advice and consultation to others in their own technical speciality and may be expected to demonstrate leadership on specific assignments.

Qualifications:

·         Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology, or equivalent formal education, in a field relevant to the position, and normally has 6 to 8 years of pertinent technological experience.

·         Demonstrated ability and strong background in electrical/electronics and PLC technology as well as good understanding CANDU systems including Fuel channels, Feeders,.

·         Demonstrated ability to make a contribution to the executions of fuel channel and feeder replacement initiatives.

·         Demonstrated leadership and communication skills

·         Demonstrates sound judgement, possesses a keen sense of responsibility, and is reliable and thorough in carrying out duties.

·         Must possess strong oral communication, effectiveness in interpersonal relationships.

·         Experience at CANDU sites executing work activities in a radiation environment

·         Must be comfortable interfacing with CANDU clients during work execution and other resource groups in AECL who support retubing projects.

·         Must understand technical issues and act timely to assist the team in resolve issues and reach a resolution.

·         Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable and to work under tight schedules in a fast paced environment. Must be available outside normal working hours, willing to work occasional shift work, and travel to sites on short notice to respond to urgent issues

·         Must be willing to work in a radiation environment and be designated a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW)

·         Must be driven by customer needs, obsessed by Quality, Excellence, and Safety; take responsibility and accountability, engaging in open and honest communication.

·         Must be Committed to learning and teamwork and empowered to challenge and innovate.

·         Familiarity with the related QA requirements: ASME, CGSB, CSA etc.

·      Familiarity with the data transfer and video equipment used in the field.
