Description:

| Duties - Responsible for the safe and proper handling of all mixed and hazardous wastes generated at CRL; from initial generator request to final disposition.
- Apply a database system to ensure proper inventory control.
- Advise waste generators on packaging and documenting their wastes for pickup.
- Perform compliance checks on waste storage facilities.
- Be a resource to Commercial projects that will involve travel and off-site work.
- Interact with outside operation and technical groups (e.g., Heavy Equipment personnel, Analytical Chemistry Branch, Radiation Protection staff, offsite technical support,...) as technical representative for the program.
- Be part of a team to develop and introduce regulatory demands throughout CRL.
- Represent the MWP on special projects.
- Continuously research waste reduction/divertion options for application at CRL.
- Operate analytical field equipment including portable gamma-spectrometers and liquid scintillation counters.
Qualifications - Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in the field of engineering technology (chemical engineering or applied sciences desirable) or equivalent formal education and 2 - 8 years of pertinent technologist experience.
- Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods would be considered an asset.
- Must pass RP Group 2 training.
- Familiarity with the CRL site would be an asset.
