Under supervision of the MWP Supervisor with occasional technical direction from Characterization Specialists, to perform duties associated with identification and handling of hazardous, mixed and radioactive wastes generated at CRL such as the following:
- To provide technical assistance in the identification and preparation of waste materials for final disposition;
- Apply a database system to ensure proper inventory control;
- Advise waste generators on packaging and documenting their wastes for pickup;
- Operate analytical field equipment including portable gamma-spectrometers and liquid scintillation counters;
- Perform compliance checks on waste storage facilities;
- Be a resource to projects that will involve travel and off-site work;
- To work with members of other groups on related subjects;
- To assist in the training or supervision of others; and
- To perform other related duties appropriate to this level.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in the field of engineering technology (chemical engineering or applied sciences desirable) or equivalent formal education and 2 - 8 years of pertinent technologist experience.
- Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods would be considered an asset.
- Must pass RP Group 2 training.
- Familiarity with the CRL site would be an asset.
