Description:

Duties

  • Perform code development and testing activities relating to the CATHENA GUI in Java and Javascript.
  • Create and maintain scripts in Python, Perl and PHP to build websites, maintain the CONDOR batch job submission system and assist analysts and other code developers to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Assist in maintaining CATHENA/ASSERT Software Quality Assurance and user support including updates to electronic library archives and updates of web-based information systems.
  • Assist in generation of technical reports, including the generation of technical figures.
  • Assist in procurement of software/hardware items for analysis staff.

Qualifications

Secondary School Honour Graduation or its equivalent. A minimum of three years' pertinent experience or its equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.

OR

  • Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology, or equivalent formal education.
  • A diploma in an engineering-related, computer or related discipline is desired.
  • Strong programming skills are essential. Experience required in several of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, Perl, Python, HTML, PHP and FORTRAN 95/2003.
  • Experience with MS Windows and Linux operating systems is required
  • Knowledge of database programming and administration is required. Experience with Microsoft Access and MySQL would be an asset.
  • Experience with web development in Javascript and HTML, and administration of Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) is essential.
  • Experience with version control and bug tracking software would be an asset.
  • Experience with the Eclipse IDE is essential and experience with development using the Eclipse GEF package would be an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft's Visual Studio IDE would be an asset.
  • Experience with Oracle iProcurement would be an asset.
  • Ability to interface with others and work in a team environment is essential
  • Good written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Some background in thermalhydraulics, or heat transfer would be an asset.
  • Experience in code verification and/or validation would be an asset.
  • A sound knowledge in the application of Software Quality Assurance (QA) is essential.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and related document preparation software would be an asset.
