| Data Flow and Database Systems Analyst Location: Albuquerque, NM (Relocation Assistance Is Available) Successful candidate will have completed a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. The Ball Aerospace Albuquerque office, located near Kirtland Air Force Base, primarily supports the Air Force Research Laboratory's Directed Energy and Space Vehicle Directorates, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the Air Force. Our Albuquerque employees specialize in providing solutions in space control, directed energy research, experimentation, and analysis. What You'll Do - Analyze and model data flow within and between enterprise-level information systems
- Assess the degree of inter-relationship between databases, characterize linkages, and map data flow between related programs
- Assess the effectiveness of data security, access control, and privacy measures
- Identify vulnerabilities in inter-related personnel, medical, financial, or logistics databases that could result in unintended data breaches or exposure of personal information
- Assess the impact on data security of proposed changes, mergers, migrations, or upgrades to data management systems
- Analyze policies, plans, and programs relating to government databases or other information management programs
- Conduct open- and closed-source research
- Identify and collaborate with subject matter experts
- Identify and attend appropriate trade shows, conferences, and other forums
- Produce written assessments and descriptive graphics
- Coordinate with other team members on assessments and deliverables
- Manage workload and time to meet firm production deadlines
What You'll Need - A Master's or Bachelor's degree in computer science, database management, information technology, information security, or a related field
- Familiarity with System Development Methodologies and concepts (e.g Object Oriented Analysis & Design OOAD, Structured Analysis, Data Flow Diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), Class Diagrams, etc)
- General knowledge of Unified Modeling Language (UML)
- Working knowledge of Structured Query Language
- Understanding of how Extensible Markup Language (XML) applies to streamlining data systems
- Hands-on experience with Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools such as MS Visio, CA ERwin, Enterprise Architect, Embarcadero Describe, etc.
- Three or more years experience with data security, systems security, network access control, or data systems architecture.
- Three or more years of experience in analysis or risk assessment
- Familiarity with government planning, programming, budgeting, and/or policymaking procedures
- Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Must be able to work effectively in a collaborative environment with other analysts to reduce analytical bias and improve the comprehensive scope of strategic analyses.
- In addition to the typical educational and experience requirements, a demonstrated capability to adequately perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position and exhibit the skills and competencies of the grade level should be considered. Each higher level degree, i.e., Master's degree or Ph.D. (or Bachelor's or Master's degree) may substitute for two years of experience. Related experience may be considered in lieu of education.
