| Database Researcher Location: Albuquerque, NM (Relocation Assistance Is Available) Job Number: 614384 Successful candidate will have completed a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. The Ball Aerospace Albuquerque office, located near Kirtland Air Force Base, primarily supports the Air Force Research Laboratory's Directed Energy and Space Vehicle Directorates, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the Air Force. What You'll Do - Analyze and model data flow within and between large information systems
- Map data flow between related data systems
- Assess the effectiveness of data protection measures as data is moved between programs
- Assess the impact on data flow of proposed system changes, mergers, migrations, or upgrades
- Conduct open- and closed-source research on databases
- Identify and collaborate with subject matter experts
- Identify and attend appropriate trade shows, conferences, and other forums
- Produce written assessments and descriptive graphics
- Coordinate with other team members on assessments and deliverables
- Manage workload and time to meet firm production deadlines
- This position does not involve programming, writing code, manipulating data, or building databases, but familiarity with these functions is a plus
What You'll Need - A Master's or Bachelor's degree in computer science, database management, information technology, information security, or a related field
- Familiarity with System Development Methodologies and concepts (e.g Object Oriented Analysis & Design OOAD, Structured Analysis, Data Flow Diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), Class Diagrams, etc)
- General knowledge of Unified Modeling Language (UML)
- Working knowledge of Structured Query Language
- Understanding of how Extensible Markup Language (XML) applies to streamlining data systems
- In addition to the typical educational and experience requirements, a demonstrated capability to adequately perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position and exhibit the skills and competencies of the grade level will be considered. Each higher level degree, i.e., Master's degree or Ph.D. (or Bachelor's or Master's degree) may substitute for two years of experience. Related experience may be considered in lieu of education.
