What You'll Do: - Responsible for designing digital hardware including FPGA development for space-based, high reliability electronic systems.
- Assignments include designs which will include SOC architectures utilizing soft-core processors, digital filters, image processing algorithms, and communication interfaces/protocols.
- Responsible for the design and implementation of test fixtures including test plans for both chip-level and board level environments and create reusable circuits that can be utilized across multiple projects.
- Experience with LEON processor implementations a significant plus.
What You'll Need: - Digital system partitioning and advanced function implementation in FPGAs. Strong design, documentation and implementation of high-speed digital electronics, FPGAs, and embedded processor systems is desired.
- Strong board design skills.
- Experienced in developing specifications, cost, schedule, and resource requirements for digital/FPGA designs.
- Candidate should have good software engineering skills, experience with C/C++, object-oriented design, and have a very strong electronic circuit design and electronic systems background.
- Expertise with VHDL/Verilog, System Verilog, Perl, and Modelsim simulator is a plus.
- Familiarity with cPCI, VME, spacewire or Firewire is a plus.
- Familiar with space radiation effects is a plus.
- Space or military experience highly desired, but not required.
- Requires good verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills.
Education: BS in Engineering or a related technical field plus 5 or more years related experience. In addition to the typical educational and experience requirements, a demonstrated capability to adequately perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position and exhibit the skills and competencies of the grade level should be considered. Each higher level degree, i.e. Master's degree may substitute for two years of experience. Related experience may be considered in lieu of education.
