Manufacturing Process Engineer - Burnaby, BC Canada

Location: Burnaby, British Columbia


Ballard's Manufacturing Engineering Team has a position available for a Manufacturing Process Engineer in our Burnaby facility.

The successful candidate will:

  • Design, develop, implement, and troubleshoot new and existing MEA sealing and MEA assembly processes. Existing processes include Liquid Injection Molding, cutting, bonding, and laminating
  • Specify, procure, commission, and qualify new equipment
  • Identify and justify projects to improve manufacturing capability, yields, productivity, and capacity
  • Manage drawings, shop floor work instructions/build sheets, process flows, plant layouts, material handling and quality control systems
  • Design, specify and commission tools, jigs, fixtures and tests
  • Use designed experiments to optimize processes and build transfer functions between process variables versus finished product requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred); P. Eng. designation preferred
  • Solid modeling experience (Pro-E preferred)
  • Experience in liquid injection molding and mold flow analysis
  • 5 to 10 years minimum experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Practical experience applying lean manufacturing and DFM methodologies
  • Experience using APQP elements - PFMEA, Process Flow, Control Plan
  • Strong knowledge of SPC and statistical methods
  • Experience in tooling design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Customer focused

The successful candidate should have a track record of leading multiple projects and developing and implementing projects using tools and methodologies such as QFD, FMEA, DOE, SPC, and Error Proofing is preferred.
