The Cardiac Monitor Technician observes the heart rhythms of all cardiac monitored patients in the hospital. Their main job duty is to continually scrutinize and document individual heart rhythms and to urgently convey pertinent information to the charge nurse/physicians, along with other daily assignments given by the nurse or department manager.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Certified Nurse's Assistant with current Illinois certification.
Minimum Work Experience
One or more years’ worth of work experience.
Must successfully complete cross-training to perform HUC (Health Unit Coordinator) functions.
Must successfully complete a training period for EKG techs.
Must successfully complete the Cardiac Monitor Tech class offered by a CGH educator.
Must complete a clinical training period for observation of Cardiac Monitors with a designated charge nurse.
Must attend and complete continuing education as determined by departmental director.
Demonstrates proficient knowledge for CMT.
Demonstrate the ability to function as a HUC and is able to also perform that job function in conjunction with the CMT position.
Demonstrates the ability to function as a CNA and is able to perform that job function in conjunction with other cross-trained positions.
Utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach, effectively uses verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills to maintain cooperative and professional relationships as evidenced by.
