DRS Tactical Systems, Inc. is located on the East coast of Florida in Melbourne. DRS Tactical Systems is a leading designer and manufacturer of highly engineered, technically advanced, defense electronics for U.S. and allied international military and intelligence agency applications. DRS manufactures rugged computer systems and communications interfaces serving military Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence and Surveillance (C4ISR) initiatives. Products include hand-held devices, laptop computers and vehicle-mounted systems supporting man-portable and fighting vehicle applications. Position Summary/Relocation Benefits
The ideal candidate will participate in computer and display system design from concept, through hardware development, integration and testing. This position requires the ability to design and debug issues in microprocessor, power supply and video systems to meet customer requirement by investigating and trading off various architectures and technologies. The successful candidate will handle all aspects of mixed design, integration and test, with the ability to oversee and provide technical direction across multiple projects. Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and development of rugged computers, display and peripherals, including power supplies, video and audio circuitry, inverters and RF circuitry
- Integrate new video, power supply and RF technologies into existing and future products
- Conduct architecture, technology and implementation trade-offs and develop technology roadmaps
- Analyze existing products and recommend product improvements
- Select and specify state-of-the-art integrated technologies & components for new designs
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering;
- Five or more years experience in mixed signal, Digital, video, RF, and/or power supply design.
- Extensive working experience in switching power supply, Analog, microprocessor and/or video designs
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
- Hold or qualify for a US DOD Security Clearance
- Must be able to meet the definition of a U.S. Person. The definition of a U. S. Person is someone who is defined as either a U.S. Citizen or an unexpired Green Card Holder.
Additional Skills
- In-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures in high frequency switching power supply design
- In-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures in video and display circuitry
- Proficient in simulation and modeling of mixed signal hardware designs
- Knowledge of DOD and military requirements a plus
- Proficient in the use of Digital instruments such as logic analyzers, pattern generators, in-circuit emulators and debuggers, oscilloscopes, and programmers
- Strong background in signal integrity and high frequency data transmission
- Ability to conduct link, power, and error analysis
- Ability to understand system-level issues in a complex digital system
