DRS Tactical Systems, Inc. is located on the East coast of Florida in Melbourne. DRS Tactical Systems is a leading designer and manufacturer of highly engineered, technically advanced, defense electronics for U.S. and allied international military and intelligence agency applications. DRS manufactures rugged computer systems and communications interfaces serving military Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence and Surveillance (C4ISR) initiatives. Products include hand-held devices, laptop computers and vehicle-mounted systems supporting man-portable and fighting vehicle applications. DRS specialize in interfaces that allow computers to operate across a broad spectrum of battlefield tactical communications networks.
Position Summary/Relocation Benefits
We currently have a need for an entry level electrical design engineer to assist in the development of our next generation of hardened computer and display products. This position requires the ability to design, simulate, debug and validate electrical designs as part of the product development process. There are no relocation benefits available for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Knowledge of Commercial and Military Standards for design and testing of electronics
· Ability to define required hardware development tools and to follow and improve hardware development processes
· Ability to manage requirements and write specifications documents
Basic Qualifications
· Minimum BS Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
· Experience in electrical hardware development using Cadence CIS/HDL schematic capture and Allegro PCB Design or equivalent tool set
· Experience building, customizing and troubleshooting electrical designs including microprocessor based hardware
· Hands-on experience designing, building and debugging complex digital circuits
· Ability to manage tasks and priorities, and to work independently
· Ability to clearly express ideas and work well in a team
· Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
· Must be able to meet the definition of a U.S. Person. The definition of a U.S. Person is defined as someone who is either a U.S. Citizen or an unexpired Green Card holder.
Additional Skills
· Experience in video and display circuit design
· Experience with or knowledge in high speed standards based busses and interfaces (PCI Experience with Windows, Linux, Solaris or real-time Operating Systems
· Express, USB, SATA, Gigabit Ethernet, CVI/HDMI etc.)
· Experience developing microprocessor based systems
· Experience developing analog circuits and/or power supplies
· Experience or knowledge in high frequency signal integrity and EMI compliance
· Ability to generate and present design reviews and design trade studies
