Supplier Quality Engineer

DRS Sustainment Systems Inc., Florence Operations, is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer. The successful candidate will perform supplier assessments, performance tracking for quality and on-time delivery, part and process qualifications, nonconformance resolution, and continuous improvement.   

Brief Description of Duties 

·         Lead supplier qualification activities, quality system assessments, process/facility audits and surveys

·         Develop and implement quality, reliability and inspection procedures to assure compliance with contractual requirements and the Product Assurance Project Plan

·         Evaluate/audit specifications, processes, drawings, products and test results for compliance with requirements and internal procedures

·         Investigate Product Assurance concerns, identify possible corrective actions, and coordinate corrective action implementation/follow-up

·         Monitor supplier performance and execute supplier corrective action systems to address customer complaints and internal problems. Manage critical supplier issues

·         Support, communicate and defend the mission, values and culture of the company

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

·         Strong knowledge of ISO System requirements

·         Requires the ability to understand military specs and read blue prints

·         Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills

·         Strong understanding of quality systems, inspection, auditing, process control and process improvement

·         Good statistical analysis skills and use of seven basic improvement tools

·         Experience with government/military contracting a plus

·         Six sigma experience or certification a plus

·         Ability and willingness for travel up to 60% of the time, including air travel

Education and Experience:

BS in Engineering, Applied Science preferred or equivalent experience. ASQ certification desired.
