DRS Tactical Systems, Inc. is located on the East coast of Florida in Melbourne. DRS Tactical Systems is a leading designer and manufacturer of highly engineered, technically advanced, defense electronics for U.S. and allied international military and intelligence agency applications. DRS manufactures rugged computer systems and communications interfaces serving military Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence and Surveillance (C4ISR) initiatives. Products include hand-held devices, laptop computers and vehicle-mounted systems supporting man-portable and fighting vehicle applications. Position Summary/Relocation Benefits

The ideal candidate will participate in Intel based main processor board system design from concept, through hardware development, integration and testing. This position requires the ability to understand system performance issues and architect Intel processor based systems to meet customer requirement by investigating and trading off various architectures and technologies, and to do detailed design as an individual contributor.   The successful candidate will handle all aspects of main board design, integration and test, with the ability to oversee and provide technical direction across multiple projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering;
  • Ten or more years experience in Digital and X86 microprocessor design.
  • Extensive working experience with Intel PC and Mobile architectures
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
  • Must be capable of gaining for a US DOD Security Clearance

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Design and development of rugged computers, display and peripherals
  • Integrate new microprocessor and chip-set technologies into existing and future products
  • Conduct architecture, technology and implementation trade-offs
  • Develop technology roadmaps
  • Analyze existing products and recommend product improvements
  • Select and specify state-of-the-art integrated technologies & components for new designs

Additional Desirable Skills and Knowledge

 

  • In-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures in digital, microprocessor and PC design
  • Experience with digital and microprocessor testing and troubleshooting
  • Proficient in simulation and modeling of digital and analog hardware designs
  • Knowledge of DOD and military requirements a plus
  • Proficient in the use of Digital instruments such as logic analyzers, pattern generators, in-circuit emulators and debuggers,  oscilloscopes, and programmers
  • Strong background in signal integrity and high frequency data transmission
  • Ability to conduct link, power, and error analysis
  • Strong background in digital communications, digital signal processing, information theory, or data networking
  • Knowledge of Data Security such as Type 1, Suite B, FIPS 140-2 and Red/Black Separation
  • Ability to understand system-level issues in a complex digital system
