We operate on a 9/80 work schedule, all employees work 80 hrs in 9 days and have every other Friday off.
Position Summary
The Technical Writer will author Interactive Technical Manuals (IETM) and Computer Based Training (CBT) using customer specified authoring software. Function in team environment developing material for use by US and foreign military forces. Interface with customer on daily basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Acquire or strengthen technical knowledge and understanding by communication with engineering and product support personnel involved in the development of new equipment and products.
- Research available engineering information such as drawings, schematics, design reports, product and test specifications, equipment family trees, etc.
- Translate technical procedures, such as testing or maintenance, into easily understood language and update when procedural changes occur.
- Review and analyze product development to determine the need for revisions, corrections and changes.
- Research existing product information and identify additional source documentation requirements.
- Review and verify all illustrations and data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment
- Enter data into required development tool
Basic Qualifications
· Position requires Bachelor Degree in related field or documented relevant experience of not less than 5 years will be considered in place of degree.
· Requires Working knowledge of Military specifications for the development of documentation in support of government tasking.
- US citizenship is required. Applicant selected will be subject to a security investigation and must be eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge
· Experience in development of multi-media training products (CBT/ICW/IMI) and electronic Technical Manuals using SGML, HTML, or XML (preferred).
· Familiar with DRS LOB, specifically Integrated Logistics Support and Field Service
