Purpose:
We currently have an opening for an Intermediate Test Software Engineer to contribute in the development of the next generation of the Shipboard Integrated Communication System (SHINCOM) product line. In particular, we are looking for a highly motivated intermediate test engineer to participate on a project team of engineers conducting basic functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development and implementation of real time, embedded software for the organization’s products, including, but not limited to, utility and test software development. This role supports the development of cost effective product test strategy in the effort to achieve a high quality product.
Major Roles and Responsibilities:
Has a strong background in Software design, testing, documentation and implementation, on projects that may include any of the following list of responsibilities:
· In collaboration with Design Engineering develops efficient and effective test specifications
· Produces test equipment specification in order to ensure optimum test performance and minimum test times
· Detects potential problems in advance and reports them to Team Leader.
· Writes test software employing best practice principles to ensure integrity of the test system and of the product.
· Plans, conducts and advises on software engineering research, design, and development within teams/projects.
· May participate in progress reviews with internal/external customers and implements corrective actions, as required.
· Reviews designs and documents produced by others and provides feedback
· Coaches others and transfers knowledge within a team environment.
· Works under the general guidance/coaching of other Engineers.
· Must develop technically sound work within prescribed time frames.
· Multiplex between different projects or assignments and delivers on commitments.
· Ability to conceptually link macro level project plans to micro level tasks.
· Ability to demonstrate flexibility to meet business demands.

Technical Competencies:
· Bachelors Degree in engineering or computer science, or equivalent.
· Minimum of 5 years of embedded telecommunication equipment testing experience
· Minimum of 3 years of Tcl/Tk (or other scripting language used to build test harnesses) programming experience.
· Minimum of 3 years of C/C++ programming experience.
· Minimum of 2 years of embedded, real time software experience, preferably on Linux platform
· Familiar with UNIX, Linux development environment and software development life cycle.
· Protocol-related development experience (e.g. Forwarding/Routing, QoS, IP, TCP, VoIP, SNMP, XML, BGP, RIP, etc.)
· Ability to set and achieve goals within committed budget and schedule.
· Experience designing and developing significant software components, the production and review of software design documents
· Ability to work at different levels of software; integrate software and hardware
The successful candidate(s) must fulfill requirements for U.S. International Traffic
in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and
Canadian security clearance to secret.
