 Position Summary

 

The successful candidate for this position will lead systems architecture efforts on behalf of DTS's Tactical Communications and Network Solutions organization in Kabul Afghanistan.  The candidate will be required to work closely with client (U.S. Army, Combined Security Transition Command- Afghanistan, and Afghanistan National, Border, and Counter Narcotics Police) personnel in the development of technical solutions for secure communications systems. The candidate will participate in all phases of the project life cycle to include analysis and design, establishing functional and technical specifications, implementation, enhancement, interoperability, testing, and validation of communication networks. The Senior Systems Architect's responsibilities include design of communications networking infrastructure (such as base stations, receiver sites, consoles, comparators), RF coverage, system dimensioning for capacity planning including traffic analysis, evaluating network design and throughput, and interoperability between communications systems supporting various agencies as required.  This includes conventional as well as trunked radio networks

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Systems Architect will be responsible for development of technical solutions focused on communications support including Satellite Communications, HF, UHF, VHF, Microwave, and Wireless support to customer requirements in most hostile and austere environments. The Architect will be responsible for integration of diverse communications systems in remote areas of Afghanistan   

Basic Qualifications

  

  • Ten (10)+ years of telecom systems architecture with specific experience in  systems - Public Safety network design, with multiple technology platforms in the communications industry or Public Safety Agencies.
  • Functional knowledge of major vendors and vendor equipment/features.  Major vendors include:  Motorola, EF Johnson, ICOM, Harris.
  • Communication Skills:  Excellent written and verbal skills are a must.  Must have experience with high interaction with customers to gather requirements and engineer proposed solutions and make presentations.
  • Experience in design/expansion/modification of communications networks.  This includes RF propagation (in all application bands, including microwave and broadband wireless), network interconnection, control points, consoles/comparators, and mobiles/portables (both voice and data).
  • Applicant must possess aggressive/Creative Problem Solving Skills; ability to get things done in a multi-organizational  environment.
  • Applicant must be willing to travel to hazardous duty locations for any given length of time.
  • Applicant must be a US citizen.
  • Must also possess at a minimum an active SECRET clearance or higher, meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and will be subject to a government security investigation.
  • Employment will be contingent upon favorable results of a company background investigation and drug screening.

   

Additional Desirable Skills and Knowledge

 

  • Project Experience:  Functional and Technical design skills using object-oriented methodology.
  • Expert level experience designing and implementing communications networks.
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical or Communications Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Previous extended deployments to Afghanistan supporting the Task Force, CSTC-A, and/or NATO G6/G2/G3 offices.
  • Professional certifications including CCIE, MCSE,
