Position Description (duties and responsibilities):
The Command & Control Integrated Systems (C2IS) Division is seeking an experienced Senior Data Network Engineer- WAN (SDNE) to support classified networks for the military throughout Iraq. The position will be located at Camp Victory – Baghdad, Iraq. The Network Engineer will be responsible for Enterprise wide engineering of the Tier 1 WAN and day-to-day operations, maintenance, upgrade and problem determination and resolution of the theater classified and unclassified WAN’s and LAN’s.
The person will be involved in numerous projects and activities that will include: design, configuration, installation, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of multiple classified and unclassified networks. The position requires a SENIOR level hands on understanding / experience with BGP, BGP Policy based routing, Quality of Service (QoS), IGMP Multicasting, VPN’s, ACL’s, MPLS, IP, VoIP, Switching, SNMP, H.323, NAT, ICMP, OSPF, EIGRP, and other complex routing architectures.
Person MUST have Enterprise level network (WAN) engineering experience in an Internet Service Provider (ISP) group: Routing, Design, Configuration, Traffic Shaping through the use of Policy based routing or Route-maps, Troubleshooting and Support of mid to large sized network environments. Daily activities also require a solid understanding of switching technologies, including VLAN’s, trunking, PVST, 802.1w, 802.1x, etc. Experience working with and managing BGP and EIGRP a must. The person will also monitor networks, review network performance reports and define action plans for improvements.
Candidate needs to be skilled at interpreting customer requirements and turning them into solutions (functional requirements) and must be able to show where they have delivered hands-on proactive resolution of issues in a timely fashion. They must be flexible and creative in adapting to environments where functional and operational objectives evolve and change rapidly. This is a very fast-paced environment. Should have a basic project management experience using time-lines, updating Gant charts and preparing Microsoft Power points and Visio presentations.
The candidate will work under the immediate supervision of a military shift leader or other contract personnel designated by the TM. The candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Required Qualifications:
· The applicant: must be willing to travel extensively, sometimes to hazardous duty areas to be inclusive of South West Asia (SWA)
· Must have 4-6 years experience with DoD networks, WAN/LAN troubleshooting and related equipment to include the use of sniffers, network monitoring tools, etc.
· CCIE, DS1, DS3, PIX Firewalls, Cisco IDS, VPN (IPSEC tunnels), GRE, ACL’s, MPLS, VoIP, H.323, SIP, SNMP, OSPF
· Prefer a bachelors degree in area of specialty and 6 years of experience in the field or in a related area
· Applicant must be a US citizen.
· Must also possess at a minimum an active SECRET clearance or higher, meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and will be subject to a government security investigation.
