Duties:
A challenging opportunity exists for Journeyman Powerline Technician (Journeyman Power Linemen). Successful candidates will, under direct supervision, perform activities related to the electrical construction, maintenance, repair and testing on energized or de-energized power lines and circuits, as required up to system voltage limits. ENMAX Power Services provides Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Project Management and Maintenance services in Streetlight, Communications, Power Distribution and Light Rail Transit industries. You will be required to:
- Have general knowledge of the principles involved in the operation of construction and maintenance methods and procedures
- Have skills in live line technique and rubber gloves
- Skills in underground splicing and terminating would be an asset
- Recognize, assess and control potentially hazardous situations in the work environment
- Function effectively as an integral part of a work group
- Experience in 25kv live line techniques using rubber gloves and underground splicing and termination is needed.
- Work safely in all adverse climatic conditions
- Possess knowledge of Electrical and Communications Utility Systems (E.C.U.C.- Safety Codes Act)
- Have knowledge of Industry standard safe working practices
- Construct and maintain Light Rail Catenary Systems
- Construct and maintain streetlight systems
Salary:
$43.96 based on January 1, 2010 rates
Qualifications:
The successful applicants will be qualified or be able to qualify as a Journeyman Powerline Technician (Journeyman Power Linemen) under the Alberta Manpower Development Act. Network experience would be an asset. Knowledge of Electrical Utility Systems Regulations and industry standard safe working practices is essential.

- Successful applicants may be assigned to shift work, including nights & weekend coverage
- Will be required to provide proof of qualifications, including a current drivers abstract
