Position: Registered Practical Nurse

Department: Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit

Status: Part-time, 0.5 FTE

Hours: All shifts (based on a Master Schedule)

Site: Oakville

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will provide Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing care to adult inpatient Psychiatry patients in a new 36 bed unit. The model of care is Primary Nursing, where the RPN will function as Primary and Associate Nurse for a small group of patients to provide continuous care from admission to discharge, and subsequent admissions. This includes optimizing the RPN scope of Nursing Practice to include medication administration. Responsible for delivering patient care to individuals who are depressed, suicidal, psychotic and/or have severe personality and behavioural disorders.

Qualifications:

Halton Healthcare Services is seeking individuals who are competent in their chosen profession; patient/customer focused; team players; effective communicators; caring and respectful and are fiscally responsible.

    • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and BCLS certification.
    • CPI certification preferred.
    • Psychiatric nursing certification in progress required.
    • Must possess good assessment and crisis intervention, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to perform well in stressful situations and problem solve.
    • Good team player.
    • Satisfactory employment and attendance record.
    • Must be physically able to do the job, which involves heavy lifting and intensive physical effort

Salary: $20.48 to $25.61 per hour
