Position: Patient Assistant Liaison x 3 positions

 

Department: Environmental Services

 

Status: Temporary Part-time (approximately 6 months)

 

Hours: Monday to Sunday, All shifts

 

Site: Oakville

 

Responsibilities:

 

The Patient Assistant Liaison (PAL) is responsible for the housekeeping, food services and portering functions on assigned in-patient units.  The PAL also assists the nursing staff with other non-nursing tasks.  The PAL cleans the patient rooms and surrounding areas according to established standards; distributes patient meals; assists with patient feeding; and transports patients via wheelchair or stretcher.  Other duties include assisting with patient lifting; answering call bells; making beds; ensuring adequate inventory of supplies; and running errands.

  • Patient Assistant Liaison training or equivalent required
  • High School education required
  • Able to work well in a team setting
  • Able to read, write and speak English
  • Able to prioritize workload and function independently
  • Physically able to perform the job; frequent walking, forward bending, pushing/pulling carts, and reaching.
  • In addition, the job also requires some overhead reaching, squatting, climbing and heavy lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to operate moderate to light equipment required
  • Diplomacy in dealing with patients, families and other hospital staff members and all others with whom the individual comes in contact
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Satisfactory employment attendance and performance required

Salary: $15.42 to $19.28 per hour
