Halton Healthcare Services Posting #: 2009-615834 CUPE 815 Position: Patient Assistant Liaison x 3 positions Department: Environmental Services Status: Temporary Part-time (approximately 6 months) Hours: Monday to Sunday, All shifts Site: Oakville Responsibilities: The Patient Assistant Liaison (PAL) is responsible for the housekeeping, food services and portering functions on assigned in-patient units. The PAL also assists the nursing staff with other non-nursing tasks. The PAL cleans the patient rooms and surrounding areas according to established standards; distributes patient meals; assists with patient feeding; and transports patients via wheelchair or stretcher. Other duties include assisting with patient lifting; answering call bells; making beds; ensuring adequate inventory of supplies; and running errands. Qualifications: Halton Healthcare Services is seeking individuals who are competent in their chosen profession; patient/customer focused; team players; effective communicators; caring and respectful and are fiscally responsible. Patient Assistant Liaison training or equivalent required High School education required Able to work well in a team setting Able to read, write and speak English Able to prioritize workload and function independently Physically able to perform the job; frequent walking, forward bending, pushing/pulling carts, and reaching. In addition, the job also requires some overhead reaching, squatting, climbing and heavy lifting up to 30 lbs.
