KAILO – Caring for Ourselves as Well as Our Patients

At Halton Healthcare Services, we’ve introduced the Kailo program, which provides a holistic approach to workplace wellness. Staff enjoy yoga; mini-massages; stress-reduction programs; team-building games; a free wellness lending library; positivity and energy-enhancing training programs; and theme parties throughout the year. Kailo for One, provides on-site counseling and one-on-one support. Combining care, compassion, and education, the Kailo program creates a sense of community and provides ongoing support to our staff.

In 2007, Halton Healthcare was once again awarded full accreditation status by the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation. In their final report, the surveyors stated that the organization has achieved a number of successes and specifically noted that HHS has “done a great job of ensuring that the sites are a reflection of the communities.” It was also noted that the organization has fully implemented all 21 of the Patient Safety Required Organizational Practices.

In 2005, Halton Healthcare was presented with the Ontario Hospital Association’s Healthy Hospital Innovators Award as well as the National Quality Institute’s Progressive Excellence Program (NQI PEP), Level One Certification. The award acknowledged Halton Healthcare for its commitment to developing a healthy, safe workplace - one which promotes employee involvement as well as open communication.
