Procurement Specialist · To provide efficient purchasing services to ensure continuity of plant operations and an appropriate service level to end users. Position Responsibilities (key duties, scope of position, goals, expectations, skill requirements, travel requirements) · Source third party services, manage contractor safety/pre-qualification and maintain insurance certification · Source capital expenditures · Source direct charge requirements · Facilitate the strategic sourcing process for categories as agreed with the North American Procurement Organization (NAPO) central sourcing team · Issue purchase orders in a timely manner · Manage the delivery of items (expediting) in order to minimize risk to the operation associated with late supply · Manage relationships with domestic and international suppliers · Assess supplier performance and maintain critical supplier relationships · Work closely with operations and suppliers to procure at the lowest total cost of ownership · Participate in strategic sourcing teams as necessary · Attend regular operational plant meetings (daily/weekly) and provide feedback on important issues and requirements to the Purchasing and Category Manager · Provide advice to operations on process and channel management · Manage daily requirements and understand future demands · Manage supplier warranties and claims · Ensure compliance to Occupational, Health, & Safety · Report benefits · Ensure the highest compliance to procurement strategies and procedures · Develop new/alternative sources of supply · Manage supplier performance (delivery, quality, first pass invoice) · Achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) · Other duties as assigned Educational Criteria · University Degree desired; Qualification in Engineering, Purchasing or Business preferred Position Dimensions (i.e., communication skills, planning, teamwork, technical knowledge, leadership, initiative) · Strong knowledge of procurement including tendering, data analysis, negotiation and contracting · Costs/results focused · Strong customer focus and ability to deliver in a stressful environment · Good written and oral communication skills · High sensitivity to customers and the demands of an industrial operation · Excellent organizational skills and capability to prioritize and multi-task · Open-minded, energetic, diplomatic, persevering, self-motivated · High personal integrity Other Related Experiences Required or Preferred · ISM CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) preferred · Minimum 3 years in sourcing, preferably in an operational environment · Minimum 3 years in project management, preferably in an operational environment · Detailed knowledge of MS Office · Good SAP knowledge or equivalent
