Research Technical Assistant - Toronto, Ontario

Salary:                    Commensurate with level of experience
Hours:                     35 Hrs/week
Status:                    Full-time, Contract (1 year) 

The Batada lab at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research is seeking a Research Technical Assistant. The Research Technical Assistant will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator on a number of experimental projects relating to DNA repair and chromatin.

The responsibilities include:

  • Apply general technical knowledge and skills to perform routine, standardized laboratory research techniques and procedures.
  • Generate and characterize human cell lines (transfections, virus generation, shRNA knockdowns)
  • Carry out routine molecular biology (vector cloning, site directed mutagenesis and recombinant protein production), biochemistry (protein purification, IP) and cell biology (immunofluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry)
  • Assist graduate students and post-doctoral fellows on priority projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.Sc or M.Sc. in Biochemistry or Molecular or Cell Biology
  • Prior experience with immunoprecipitation and fluorescence microscopy is highly desirable
  • Must be a detail-oriented and have good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must demonstrate satisfactory work performance and attendance record
