Role and Responsibilities

Assists in preparing statements that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines under the supervision of a Controller. Responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and aiding in the set up of control systems. Demonstrates good knowledge in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks that contribute to keeping the accounting and financial processes of the company up to standard and ensures accurate financial reporting and control. Organized professional who is reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively, with a great eye for detail. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.


  • Using MAS-90/Sage 100, assists in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports for management
  • Assists in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices
  • Assists in the development of tax strategies and budget forecasts
  • Assists in the analysis of trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to predict future revenues and expenses
  • Coordinates and assists with the preparation of regulatory reports
  • Participates in preparation for audits and serves as liaison to external auditors
  • Supports month-end and year-end close processes
  • Assists in the establishment of departmental policy and procedures that are in accordance with company policy, objectives, mission and goals
  • Works closely with Controller to manage budget resources for the Accounting department on an annual basis
  • Assists in the establishment of work procedures and processes that support company and departmental standards, procedures and strategic directives
  • Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Assists with management of all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P and Payroll
  • Periodically audits Accounting department work for quality assurance
  • Works on special assignments as requested
  • Assists in the management of books for multiple companies
  • Performs essential job demands for this position
  • Performs other duties and assists with department needs as assigned


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, and 3 - 5 years of related experience, preferably with a fast-paced high-growth company
  • Certification in Public Accounting desirable
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word and PowerPoint, advanced Excel skills including pivot tables preferred
  • Ability to effectively handle time-critical issues, remain productive and meet goals in stressful situations

  • Detailed-oriented and comprehensive financial accuracy required
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of accounting and company information at all times
  • Experience with Sage100 helpful but not required
  • Analytical thinker with experience managing high-volume transactions
  • Daily self-motivation required to drive tasks to accurate resolution/completion
  • Well organized with the ability to prioritize tasks, assignments and projects
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
