The CIHR Centre for REACH in HIV/AIDS (REACH 2.0) is a nation-wide, innovative, virtual laboratory for intervention research, participatory evaluation, and applied program science in HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted and bloodborne infections. We work as a partnership that includes people living with HIV/AIDS, community based organizations, front-line service providers, health researchers, and federal, provincial, and regional policy makers.

The Research Coordinator I is responsible for supporting REACH 2.0 research teams and grant applications, liaising and cultivating partnerships with committees and working groups, supporting REACH operations and communications, and other administrative tasks. This position requires the ability to adhere to REACH, CIHR and St. Michael’s Hospital protocols, and work with the Research Program Manager, Nominated Principal Investigator, and other team members to carry out various aspects of implementing a national HIV research centre.

  • Provide key administrative and logistical support for multiple projects in the research programs
  • Work with communities and persons living with HIV/AIDS to identify research and capacity building needs
  • Provide assistance with research development and implementation activities
  • Seek out funding opportunities at CIHR and other funding agencies
  • Assist research project teams to develop and submit grant proposals, including CCV support
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Assist in knowledge translation and exchange activities to move research evidence into action
  • Interpret, synthesize and communicate research findings for stakeholders via documents and the website
  • Develop proposals for Research Ethics Boards
  • Develop and maintain good communications with stakeholders by managing the newsletter, website and other communication tools
  • Organize travel and venue logistics, schedules, meetings, including prepping materials and taking notes
  • Coordinate and organize REACH working groups and committees, including Universities Without Walls
  • Schedule, attend and manage research meetings, including preparing agendas and meeting minutes
  • Provide support for occasional projects such as strategic planning and strategic community/stakeholder initiatives
  • Keep current on relevant policies and guidelines, and track implementation
  • Prioritize and manage various study deadlines while maintaining organized records of study files
  • Assist with day to day administrative tasks which include scanning, faxing, acquiring signatures 


  • Bachelor of Arts or Science; Master’s preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to learn new skills
  • Superior organizational skills to manage multiple projects in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload
  • Professionalism and self-motivation
  • Good personal and program time/detail management skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, database and web development (WordPress)
  • Able to communicate (written and verbal) in French is a definite asset
