MTA Transformation Job Description

 

Job Title:                                 Director of Program Delivery - IT tools & Internet                 

Department/Division:             Transformation Management Office (TMO)

Reports to:                              Head of Program Delivery

Summary of Job:

This position is in the Transformation Management Office (TMO), which is a statutorily enacted, newly formed, temporary department at the MTA.  The goal of the TMO is to manage the MTA’s Transformation to OneMTA focused on delivering effective functions that support operations, safety and customer service.

The Director of Program Delivery - IT tools & Internet is responsible for developing and implementing an organizational strategy for identifying additional opportunities for IT consolidation, as well as, developing a strategy for implementation.  In this role, the individual will be responsible for rationalization of IT business processes and tools, and directing the delivery of IT requirements to support MTA business transformation.  In addition, this individual will be responsible for working with various stakeholders for the integration of new IT tools and finding cost-savings methods to implement emerging technologies.  The position is also responsible for recommending technological solutions for the management of the MTA customer websites and customer messaging.

 

Duties:

  • Perform a detailed analysis to identify areas of opportunity to improve the organization’s IT service delivery and increase the speed of product delivery. Based upon this analysis recommend changes to drive efficiencies.
  • Evaluate and measure results of MTA IT processes and tools to enhance employee output and improve services, as well as integrate IT processes with business processes as a result of the MTA business transformation.
  • Research and direct the implementation of emerging technological advances to assist MTA employees in their everyday performance.
  • Assess current IT capabilities and work with stakeholders to develop a plan for transitioning capabilities to meet the demands of business transformation.
  • Develop and implement a best practices approach to merging various internal stakeholder information.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and apply a strategic approach when implementing throughout the MTA’s complex matrix environment.
  • Develop technological plans for the MTA’s customer facing communication channels.
  • Assess strengths and weaknesses of current websites and customer messaging and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Work within budgetary constraints while implementing critical change throughout the MTA network.
  • Perform troubleshooting to resolve problems that may arise.
  • Other assignments as requested by senior management.

 

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS in information systems, computer engineering, business or related field.
  • Proven experience as an IT director (approximately 10 years) or similar role.
  • Experience analyzing, implementing, and evaluating IT systems.
  • Experience in IT vendor management and contracting.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of MTA objectives and operations.
  • Collaboration skills with ability to build effective relationships, as well as influence peers and staff.
  • Strong prioritization and organization skills, with ability to multitask in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
