This position is in the Transformation Management Office (TMO), which is a statutorily enacted, newly formed, temporary department at the MTA. The goal of the TMO is to manage the MTA’s Transformation to OneMTA focused on delivering effective functions that support operations, safety and customer service.

 

Summary:

The Project Management Office (PMO) Director is responsible for establishing a PMO Strategy to help develop an effective PMO for the TMO. This position is responsible for working across workstreams to gather data and report out using project management software. The PMO Lead will be responsible for developing TMO progress reports to a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to the following: the MTA Steering Committee, the MTA Board, MTA agencies, and others.

The PMO Director will track the status of all workstreams in the TMO based on updates from the team. They will standardize the way information is compiled and reported. The PMO Director will design project dashboards that will track and provide project status.

 

Responsibilities:

Develop and manage a detailed PMO strategy to monitor and track TMO progress

  • Work across workstreams to gather and synthesize data as well as provide regular updates to management
  • Set priorities with the appropriate sense of urgency and execute strategic/tactical plans efficiently and effectively
  • Establishes and communicate clear performance expectations
  • Communicate clear expectations to workstreams and coach project managers to lead project teams to meet expectations
  • Report out on the TMO Roadmap and other necessary documents
  • Integrate and transition reporting to future enterprise reporting
  • Prepare accurate briefs and documentation in support of the program
  • Identifies and escalates issues, drives problems to resolution, develops recovery plans for complex issues
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Manage and track project resource allocations, timelines, and deliverables
  • Receive and share information appropriately to ensure clear understanding and proper action
  • Identify communication barriers among workstreams and work to resolve them
  • Identifies and manages project risk

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Proven experience in program management
  • Proven stakeholder management skills

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Advanced Degree or Project Management Professional (PMP), preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years project management or related field experience
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Visio and Outlook along with a project management software.
