The Organization:

The Burgess Group has been retained to recruit a Psychiatrist for New York City's largest provider of mental health and social services. This comprehensive organization is seeking an outstanding individual responsible for providing psychiatric services and care to the agency's clients, including making clinical diagnosis, prognosis, medication management, and discharge planning. The psychiatrist functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team environment approach of the Agency.

Position Description, Criteria, Duties & Responsibilities:


The psychiatrist is responsible for providing psychiatric services and care to the agency's clients, which includes the following: Provision of a full behavioral health (including health) assessment; diagnosis; treatment recommendations; treatment planning; treatment; and follow up planning. The practitioner provides medication management, counseling and coordination of care (along with the program team) and communicates with health providers outside of the agency. The practitioner also provides clinical consultation to non-medical staff, is the signature of record for all treatment planning, and participates in the learning environment of the program. Care is provided in collaboration with clients using a recovery based lens.

Job Responsibilities: Include but not limited to:

> Provide health/behavioral health assessment (including differential diagnoses, prognoses), treatment recommendations and treatment planning for agency clients across program types.
> Provide medication management for clients on medication and intermittent reassessment (as needed) for those assessed (but not on medication). Medication provision includes the direct delivery of injectables.
> Provide counseling, brief therapy, psychoeducation about health/behavioral health and other care for clients as planned by the treatment team and to support the treatment plan of the client.
> Participate in case reviews and treatment plan reviews for program clients not seen by this practitioner.
> Provide consultations to non-medical staff on complex cases.
> Communication with health care providers outside the organization and interpretation of health results for care planning.
> Review client progress, recommend discharge and aftercare planning.


A Medical degree with a license to practice psychiatry in the State of New York is required. Candidate must have completed a residency in General Psychiatry and be board certified (or board eligible with a plan for certification). Specialization with specific populations or settings and language competency for the population served may also be required, with related certification.
