Title: Project Manager

Reporting Relationship: To the Director of Project Management, Facilities Department

Project Description:

Responsible for project management of major capital projects from inception, including programming, design, bidding, and construction, in accordance with recognized industry standards as well as established budgets, schedules, and quality standards. Responsible for managing schedules, budgets and ensuring quality control for all projects. Oversees the bid solicitation and award process for major construction projects and determines contract awards. Responsible for actively managing, monitoring, and reporting relevant financial and administrative information and taking appropriate corrective actions as required. Provides guidance and assistance to the University community on the feasibility, programming, cost and scheduling of major construction projects. Serves as owner’s representative with architects, engineers, and construction managers. Prepares status reports and representations to Departmental and University Executive staff.


Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, or structural engineering; construction management; or architecture preferred. A minimum of 8 years of design & construction and/or related professional work experience required. Licensed Architect or Engineer preferred. Candidates seeking consideration must have previous responsibility for administering major, multifaceted projects with a broad range of participants and functionality. Successful experience with institutional projects, i.e. higher education, hospitals, museums, courts, etc. Experience with both new construction and major renovation projects preferred.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, written and strong analytical skills. Ability to work as part of a team of project management professionals. Hands on experience with relevant PC software, i.e. CAD, word processing, and spreadsheets. Must have proven ability to work in client-service environment and a commitment to meeting the University’s sustainability, MWLBE and workforce goals.

Additional Requirements:

In addition to these qualifications, Director of Project Management Facilities, whom Project Manager will repart to, would like to see a project list with dollar amounts submitted by the candidates for review.

Salary range:

$100-110,000.00 plus benefits.
