For more than 40 years, The Connection has been one of Connecticut’s leading private, non-profit human service and community development agencies offering unique solutions to the problems of homelessness, mental illness, substance use and community justice rehabilitation. The Connection is comprised of 3 services areas; Behavioral Health, Community Justice, and Family Support Services. The Connection’s statewide programs reunite families; break the generational cycles of abuse and neglect; create stronger, safer communities; assist people with mental health and addiction issues; provide long term supportive housing to individuals and families including those with diagnosed behavioral health disorders; provide residential treatment for women and/or men in recovery, and offer less costly service alternatives, saving taxpayer dollars.
Knowledge, Skills and Position Summary: This position provides group and individual counseling services and collaborates with other team members in the treatment of adults suffering from mental health and/or substance abuse disorders, in community based outpatient treatment settings. This position will be based in the Connection Counseling Center, under the supervision of the Therapist II – Site Lead. Provide primary group services for clients with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues. Work collaboratively with medical, treatment, employment, housing, and educational linkages in the community on behalf of clients.
Education: The minimum qualifications to be an eligible candidate for the Therapist 2 position is LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist and 3 year related experience or PhD with 1 year relevant experience. Valid Connecticut driver's license and proof of insurance is required for all open positions at The Connection.
