Job Summary

 

Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, The General Manager (GM) oversees, manages and is responsible for all facets of Tim Hortons Manufacturing including Coffee and Fruition operations. The successful incumbent will provide strategic and operational leadership for the (3) manufacturing plants. This involves setting policies, and making decision guiding productivity, quality, and cost efficiency to achieve profitability of the business as per the annual budget. Involved with annual financial budgets and reporting. Leads the development of managers, supervisors and operators/front line employees.

 

Key Accountabilities

  1. Manage all operational aspects of manufacturing facilities
  • Prepare annual Manufacturing budget, manage, monitor and approve all expenditures for the departments while adhering to budget expectations
  • Develop routines, policies and standard operating procedures for the manufacturing operations
  • Forecast short-term and mid-term labour requirements
  • Define and implement all strategies and processes for quality improvement, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations and plant performance measures
  • Initiate and drive the implementation of major improvement projects throughout all the facilities (e.g., plant layout changes, recommendation and procurement of all new manufacturing equipment, major repairs, etc.)
  • Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success of lean manufacturing processes and initiatives
  • Ensure compliance of all the manufacturing processes with food quality and safety standards, employees health and safety rules
  • Ensure safe working environment and drive safety culture

 

  1. Manage Team in Manufacturing Operations, sustain employee relations and monitor performance
  • Provide leadership to plant managers to accomplish goals of  lean manufacturing strategies
  • Manage, coach and develop management team including personal development and succession planning
  • Motivate and inspire the team and drive engagement of the team with high touch in-person interactions
  • Responsible to resolve conflict and to create a positive and productive team environment
  • Ensure employee compliance and training standards are met
  • Provide timely and effective communication through staff meetings, individual interactions, as well as written and electronic communication

 

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years’ experience in a senior role in a manufacturing environment within the food industry
  • 3 - 5 years’ of supervisory/management experience within the manufacturing/supply chain industry
  • Experience managing multiple production sites; ability to manage several projects at once
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, decision making and analytical skills required
  • Demonstrated leadership of food safety standards and procedures (HACCP, SQF, etc.)
  • Proficient use of computers and various software (MS Office, SAP)
  • Proven ability to multitask, meet deadlines and demonstrate a sense of urgency
  • Flexibility and ability to travel to the different sites
