TSX Technologies

Technology plays a critical role at TSX Group - ensuring system availability and providing the infrastructure to efficiently run the business and maintain a fair and orderly market. Representing about 45% of all TSX Group employees, TSX Technologies is functionally split into six areas that work closely together to ensure a consistent focus.

  • Application Development
    The Application Development group is structured using a resource pool concept. Application and Development Delivery Directors manage this pool of technical people. The range of skills of the technical people in the pool includes: defining application design, defining functional specifications, application code development, performing unit testing, and support of capacity and performance testing.

    This Application Development group is responsible for two major functions; the support of the existing production applications and the building of new application business functions.

    Key individuals within the pool have responsibility for providing the primary support role for specific production applications. These people typically carry a pager and are responsible for being available 7X24 to provide support for problem resolution as may be required.

    The second and larger activity of the Application Development group is the delivery of new business functions through project initiatives.

    The pool concept allows for the technical people to be continually crossed-trained so that they can be involved in many different types of technical initiatives.

  • Operations and Service Delivery
    The Managed Services team consists of Production Services and Infrastructure Services. This team is responsible for the availability of TSX Group systems, most importantly the trading engine. The team providing service encompasses technical support, operations, and customer services dedicated to meeting customer expectations.

    The Managed Services team is instrumental in supporting and growing the customer base by providing reliable systems and quality support to both internal and external customers.

  • Architecture
    The main goal of the Architecture Group is to set a strategic plan for the evolution of TSX Technologies. By reviewing current TSX Technologies department projects, Architecture makes sure they are meeting standards from an architecture and technology point of view.
  • Business Management Office
    The Business Management Office is a customer-focused group, comprised of business and technology professionals that provide strategic planning, streamlined processes and controls, and support services. The three main responsibilities of the team include: contract negotiations and vendor management, purchasing, and management of the TSX Broadcast Centre.
  • Project Management Office and Quality Assurance
    The Project Management and Quality Assurance teams are responsible for ensuring that projects are successfully delivered for TSX Group. This includes all aspects of project management for each individual project, as well as overall project portfolio management. Individual projects involve managing scope, schedules, quality, vendor management, risk management, stakeholder management and executive reporting on project health. At a portfolio level, the team assesses and mitigates risks that threaten our overall ability to deliver projects. We also facilitate the resource and capacity planning of TSX Technologies.
  • Business Solutions
    The Business Solutions Team is responsible for managing the relationships with all of TSX Technologies customers and facilitating the building and assessment of client initiatives. Business Relationship Managers are focal points for both the technologies resources and customer contacts for technologies related information and issues. Solutions Specialists are responsible for compiling solutions for customer initiatives and ensuring service delivery resources are aware of and supportive of those solutions.

    The Business Analysis team is primarily focused on requirements management for new system development and technology enhancement projects. They work with customers to understand business objectives, and shape technology solutions that add value to our clients.
