JOB SUMMARY:

The Physiotherapist (PT) is an integral member of the Physiotherapy service, Allied Health and clinical programs in which care is provided. Through the provision of patient and non-patient care activities, the PT enhances the quality of life of patients by: providing physical therapy assessment, treatment and education in individual and group format for clients. The PT collaborates with the inter-professional team to provide patient focused care; communicates effectively with patients, families, and team members; participates in program planning, development and professional and hospital initiatives that support quality management and research. The PT complies with and shows commitment to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiotherapy (BScPT) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in adult rehabilitation is required
  • Registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B Level or C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada
  • Membership in Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
  • ADP authorization considered an asset
  • Experience as member of interprofessional team required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) required
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Complies with the legislation outlined in the Regulated Health Professions Act, (1991)
  • Complies with the Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
  • Demonstrates competence with departmental and hospital safety, emergency and infection control procedures
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and to function in an independent, self-directed manner
    Computer proficiency required
