Lead a team of Web / Java developers in the creation and enhancement of a variety of mission critical web / middleware applications, including the virginmobile.ca web site and the retail commissioning portal
Provide development estimates
Plan resource allocation based on workload
Create development timelines
Promote teamwork and collaboration
Partner directly with senior leaders in Brand team to drive significant improvements in Virgin’s web based presence
Collaborate closely with other development teams, project managers, business analysts, quality assurance analysts, and IT operations primes throughout the software development lifecycle (requirements, design, development, testing, service transition/deployment)
Provide development support for the IT Operations team for ongoing support and maintenance, including but not limited to:
Off hour support allocations and escalation
Problem ticket and production incident resolutions within prescribed KPIs
Monitor and improve development processes and procedures
Skills
Strong knowledge and experience in web and middleware related technologies, with 5 to 10+ years of experience in leading web development teams
Strong organizational & time management skills, with ability to lead multiple development projects in different development stages simultaneously
Ability to work in an extremely ambiguous and ever changing environment (both technical and business)
Post-secondary education in Computer Science or related field (BSc or MSc)
Background in telecommunications / wireless industry would be an asset
