The Director, Clinical Product is part of a team responsible for a specific product family and reports to the Clinical Solutions leader. This person supports and grows products throughout their life cycle, working in a matrix environment across multiple internal departments. They are responsible for developing the business plan for their product and to ensure effective execution of plan. This may include interfacing with customers, developing and growing relationships with business partners, researching and identifying options to improve the product(s), and acting as a thought leader for the product suite under their direction. This role works closely with product management leadership, members of the executive team, and others across multiple internal departments to define and implement the product family’s vision and roadmap, assuring attainment of revenue and customer satisfaction goals, and aligning all activities with HealthStream’s vision.

The successful candidate for this position will have experience in clinical professional development, knowledge management, content/data aggregation and curriculum development, as well as leading and managing others. They will have the ability to plan and execute own activities with generally defined goals and minimal supervision, as well as manage multiple concurrent activities and complex projects with the appropriate prioritization and focus.



Product Development and Management

Create and manage strategy for multiple products in the clinical portfolio within the context of the total product family

Grow sales and revenues for assigned HealthStream-owned and partner products

Conduct market research and fully understand the competitive environment for related products

Track and understand market share and financial performance and report internally on this analysis

Produce well-researched and well-founded product pricing and appropriate incentive/ discounts to promote product sales

Directly lead, manage and support a team of product and program managers with assigned products in their portfolio

Support a cross-functional and self-led scrum (technology) team as the Product visionary to ensure customer-focused product development

Assure accurate and complete understanding of products through routine internal training, development of customer training, and other forms of internal and external communication

Identify, resolve, and monitor customer and product issues with the assistance of client services support

 Sales and Marketing Support

Assist in the development and support the execution of sales plans

Support new product releases with development of sales tools and collateral

Assist in the development of a marketing strategy, key messaging and prioritize the production of marketing materials and sales-support activities, including customer presentations

Identify marketing opportunities, such as professional conferences and other events that provide access to potential customers

 Business Partner Management

Make recommendations for future new partnerships and their relative value to the business

Conduct negotiations with partners to finalize business relationships and contracting, with the support of internal legal counsel

Manage ongoing relationships with existing partners, including gaining a deep understanding of the business and leading mutual growth plans for the products




Clinical and/or Business Degree

Clinical or healthcare-related experience strongly preferred

Proven ability to vision a concept and executed successfully

Experience designing and building products or solutions, either for internal or external customers

Proven ability to take initiative, work independently, and act as a thought leader in the areas of professional development, as well as data and knowledge management

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint



Proven ability to develop clinical professional development programs and/or career development plans

Proven ability to work independently, exhibiting a high level of personal ownership and accountability

Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of management and customers to express vision, goals, objectives and strategies



Excellent presentation and written communication skills

Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills with a keen eye for detail

Strong knowledge of the healthcare industry with an understanding of healthcare issues, workforce development and competency, and learning management.
