Crisis Critical Care Treatment Unit 6
Acute Care Program
The Acute Care Program is currently seeking four (4) full-time, permanent Registered Nurses to work in the Crisis Critical Care Treatment Unit 6.The Crisis Critical Care Treatment Unit 6 is a fast-paced, short-stay service incorporating medical treatment for mood disorders, including treatment of depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety, as well as the treatment of clients experiencing mood-related psychosis and concurrent disorders. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for assessment and care planning for clients that will involve liaising with other services, community agencies, and practitioners. You will deliver care in an efficient and safe manner, within an inter-professional team. You will provide client-centred psychiatric, addictions and general nursing care and ensure the security and safety of the care environment. You will practice in accordance with CNO standards, with CAMH Policies and the CAMH Practice Model, and the Canadian Nurses’ Association Standards for Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice (CFMHN). As a member of the inter-professional team you will provide group and individual therapeutic interventions as well as actively engage in interdisciplinary and cross-program collaboration. You will be expected to utilize critical thinking, a problem solving process and customer service in your approach to care and service delivery. You will be able to work with clients from diverse populations; participate in clinical supervision; provide support and supervision to students and participate in the research activities of the program. Your skills include the ability to make behavioural observations, mental status and physical assessments, monitoring patient’s response to pharmaceutical and care interventions, documentation and ongoing communication with other team members. You will have sound knowledge of crisis intervention, mood disorders, concurrent disorders, group facilitation, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care. Your strengths will include an ability to perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate inter-professional client-centered care plans. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. Day and night shift are required. These positions will be located at the Queen Street Site.
The successful candidate must be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario. You will also have a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate. You will have two years of experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing. Preference will be given to candidates who possess, or are currently pursuing a B.Sc.N and/or CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable you to develop the Nurse-Client relationship and work within a dynamic collaborative and diverse inter-professional team. Effective leadership, decision-making, organizational and problem solving skills are required. You have demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the prevention and management of disturbed behavior. Previous experience clinical assessment is required. The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds. Computer literacy is required. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Salary Range: $33.90 - $48.53 per hour
