                                                J O B   DESCRIPITION 

JOB TITLE: Health Data Informatics Tech.

DEPARTMENT :  Health Information Management/Medical Records

 

JOB SUMMARY:     
• Enter Data, either manually or using scanning technology 
• Acquire and abstract primary or secondary data from existing internal or external data sources.
• Generate routine and/or ad hoc reports.
• Create and present quality dashboards (e.g. Analyze/Quantify info. for chart deficiencies).
• Develop graphs, reports, and presentations of project results, trends, data mining.
• Identify data problem areas and conduct research to determine best course of action.
• Analyze and solve issues with legacy, current, and planned systems as they relate to the integration and management of patient data. (e.g., review for accuracy in record merge and unmerge processes).
• Monitor metadata for process improvement opportunities (e.g. monitoring forms/documents for successful computerized implementation or improvement of current form/documents)
• Analyze reports of data duplicates or other errors to provide ongoing appropriate interdepartmental communication and monthly or daily data reports.
• In collaboration with others, interpret data and develop recommendations on the basis of findings.
• In collaboration with others, develop and maintain databases and data systems necessary for projects and department functions. 
• In collaboration with others, develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
     
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associates Degree in Health Information Management/Technology (CHDA/RHIT/RHIA) or equivalent related experience.
Requires course in Medical Terminology or equivalent experience. 

Training: Requires minimum of 3 months to perform job satisfactorily.
   
Experience:  Prior Healthcare experience preferred. 

Job Skills: 
• Knows and understands Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
• Knows and understands extracting documents and transferring from other systems/programs.
• Has basic understanding of coding systems (CPT, HCPC, DRG, ICD-9-CM)
• Demonstrates Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Exhibits keen attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Follows direction and instruction.

Physical Demands: Attention to detail in a variety of repetitive tasks. Moderate
                 combination of sitting, walking, lifting and bending. Very light lifting 10-25lbs.

Special Demands: Must be tactful, accurate, self-motivated, and friendly.
                           Must possess organizational skills.
