Job Title: Point of Care Tech

Dept.: Laboratory

Coordinates and participates in training of Point of Care tests. Performing and maintaining competency assessments for laboratory and nursing staff, who perform waived, moderate and high complexity Point of Care testing at the hospital and clinics. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining POC equipment to ensure all quality assurance deliverables are met. Partners with the clinical staff to develop and implement policies and procedures surrounding Point of Care testing. Adheres to all procedures directed by manufacturers, state and federal regulations, and those imposed by HMC and The Joint Commission.

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  1. Associate Degree in Applied Science from a NAACLS accredited and approved CLT/MLT program or BS degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of an accredited Medical Technology program AND certification as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) OR
  2. BS degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science AND categorical certification for the specific specialty by the ASCP, OR
  3. BS degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years of experience in a role equivalent to that of a medical laboratory technician in a clinical laboratory, OR
  4. Successfully completed the HEW (HHS) proficiency examination, AND

Three years’ experience as a Medical Technologist.3 years of performing tests in a high complexity clinical laboratory setting and 3 years of experience performing phlebotomy on patients of all ages preferred.

  1. High School graduate or equivalent AND completed military Medical Lab Specialist (50 week) course.

Other:

  1. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required
  2. Valid Driver’s License.
