The Staff Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame; care is provided through use of self, the nursing process, environment instrumentation and other health care team members.
Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Current R.N. License in the State of Illinois.
Employee with necessary education will be expected to exhibit reasonable proficiency within six months.
- Knowledge of nursing process for area to which assigned;
- knowledge of hospital and unit policies/procedures, techniques, equipment, legal parameters, CPR certification.
- Safety and infection control protocols for patient, visitors and self.
- Able to care for all age patients at competency level (100%).
Performing nursing process-assess, plan, implement, evaluate. Direct others in patient care; decision maker; education of patients/family; technical skill; safety. Inservice education attendance as described in manual on unit.
Lifts weight over 50lbs, as with moving and lifting patients and equipment; prolonged walking and standing; visual and auditory acuity; manual dexterity.
Ability to work cooperatively and independently, to work efficiently under stress. To promote a positive public image of the nursing unit and HMC.
